The Director, Strategic Business Partners is a key role reporting to the CPO.  This leadership role will help to drive our mission by working with team members across the company to ensure that Waystar is a great place to work. This leader will partner with senior leaders across the business to understand their objectives and develop proactive talent strategies to meet our growth plans. They will build programs and leadership capabilities around our key areas of culture, organizational design, organizational and leader effectiveness, performance management, team member relations, and processes and policies.  They will accomplish results in the role by being innovative, driven, collaborative and dependable and partner across our People Team disciplines with leaders in Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Total Rewards.

  • Proactively find opportunities and assess improvements to the team member experience, while partnering with leadership to create and implement innovative and lasting solutions
  • Build credibility and trust among employees. Act as front-line Partner to resolve team member concerns. You will be responsible for building and adhering to a systematic approach, with clear documentation and follow-through.
  • In partnership with our L&D team, support onboarding for new employees joining Waystar
  • Identify and deploy impactful people strategies and policies that enable our team members to perform optimally and scale efficiently as we grow. This may include strategies/policies around Goal Setting & Accountability, Effective Communication, Employee Benefits, Learning & Development, Compensation Philosophy, Performance Cycles, and Culture.
  • Advise, mentor/coach, and guide all employees to develop positive employee engagement capability and leadership skills
  • Perform periodic audits and leverage them to drive timely corrections and accountability
  • Deliver appropriate coaching and development feedback to managers and team members
  • Design and develop strategies with senior leaders to implement talent related initiatives around workforce planning, team member and leader development, performance and culture
  • Support our growth through acquisitions and drive integration initiatives to quickly onboard, engage and ensure our new team members thrive
  • Foster and maintain strong internal relationships throughout their assigned client groups and be a sought after thought partner to leaders
  • Act as a consultant to influence the business, deliver constructive feedback, diagnose and resolve issues and positively influence change
  • Delivers thought leadership in order to enhance organizational design, team effectiveness to increase productivity and maintain high team member engagement
  • Gather and analyze people data and make recommendations for continuous improvement

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and HR certification ideal
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience driving effective People Team processes and strategies (Performance Management, Team Member Relations, Communication, Engagement, Integrations, etc) in a fast paced environment
  • Role models our company values, ethics and maintains the highest level of confidentiality
  • Experience leading/building/coaching a team of other talent leaders
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align People Team objectives with the overall business strategy of the organization
  • Strong ability to build relationships and present persuasive recommendations to leadership, including the ability to communicate complex ideas and recommendations to highlight a clear decision framework based on analysis and experience
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the development of strategy, program design and implementation of organizational development strategies ideal
  • Effective project management skills, including scoping a project, identifying key stake holders, developing a project plan with milestones and successful use of measurement that positively impact the business
  • Full time, exempt. Travel 20%
