Your Role within the Team

The onsite Quality Assurance & Quality Control Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing operations at one of our key contract manufacturers in Harvard, IL. Duties and responsibilities may include: A step by step review of the facility’s overall process from ingredient risk assessment, receiving, inventory, formulation, batching, mixing, production, packaging and warehousing. Document all process, quality, sanitation and food safety improvements and communicate them to the facility team for implementation. Support in the development of procedures, policies and documentation to ensure all improvements are implemented and documented. Support the development and participate in training for employees.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and identify potential improvements by area throughout the manufacturing process. Spend time in each area of manufacturing to identify improvements in accuracy of records, quality control, food safety and sanitation.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and forms to support these improvements.
  • Verify that improvements are being followed and validate that improvements have the desired effect.
  • Support all quality investigations to identify root causes with appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide weekly updates to H&H and Co-manufacturer on identified issues and implemented corrective actions.
  • Review current in process and finished product testing and procedures to ensure the best quality product while maintaining high food safety standards.
  • Ensure that H&H requirements and specifications are met.
  • Ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and all other relevant standards.
  • Works with Product Development during new product launches and establish key checkpoints for new products and processes.
  • Support the sourcing/product development teams on approval of alternative ingredients/secondary sources.

 

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of quality and food safety management experience
  • Hands-on operations experience in food or pet food manufacturing
  • Previous experience in implementing new quality, food safety and process improvements.
  • Supplement and/or infant category experience advantageous
  • BSc/ Ba in business administration or relevant field
  • Consumer products experience in the pet category
