Your role within the team

The Senior Tax Manager for North America is responsible for:

  • H&H Group’s compliance with local tax obligations in the US;
  • US transfer pricing reporting obligations in an accurate and timeline manner;
  • Supporting and enhancing the H&H Group’s global tax strategy, including transfer pricing strategy, risk management policy, tax governance, operating effectiveness of the tax function, with a focus on creating and protecting value; and
  • Providing tax advice on operational and strategic matters for the Group relating to corporate structuring, funding, M&A and other transactions.

Duties and responsibilities

Strategy and Governance:

  • Assist to develop an efficient tax strategy for the H&H Group in US, including consideration of optimal legal, funding and operating structures;
  • Maximize tax efficiencies for the Group through informed application of tax laws and regulations and within the Group’s tax risk appetite;
  • Implementation of H&H Group TP/IP model, including monitoring of operational aspects and US tax authority requirements;
  • Assist to implement a tax risk management and tax governance framework in the US to ensure that tax risk is managed appropriately, particularly for significant transactions;
  • Identify and implement appropriate systems, processes and controls to enhance reporting and operational efficiency with the tax function ;
  • Assistance with effective reporting to executive management and the Board on key tax matters and risks;
  • Manage ongoing relationships with external consultants locally and globally.

 

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Oversee the management of all US tax compliance obligations to ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax obligations (including federal, state and local level income tax, sales tax, payroll tax, and transfer pricing);
  • Manage external tax authority enquiries, reviews and audits in the US to ensure positive relationships are maintained in these jurisdictions;
  • Develop an in-house framework for tax effect accounting calculations to enhance accuracy for statutory audits and monthly reporting and oversee the tax audit process;
  • Deliver relevant tax training support to finance and other functional departments.

 

Tax advisory:

  • Provide tax advice to the US business as required, covering all types of indirect and direct taxes;
  • Advise on tax strategies relating to new business initiatives in the US, including M&A;
  • Advise on and provide tax support on the integration of new businesses and processes including, ERP set-up, tax structuring, tax effect acquisition accounting, integration of tax processes and tax consolidations;
  • Review and provide tax sign off for major business contracts;
  • Monitor US corporate tax developments to identify opportunities and create efficiencies within the Group;
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required by the Group.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and CPA qualified
  • Min 5 years’ tax experience in public accounting firm and/or overseeing the corporate tax division of a medium to large company operating in multiple tax jurisdictions throughout the world
  • A strong knowledge of US and international taxation laws and regulations and a willingness to continue to keep their knowledge current through self-initiated learning
  • Prior experience in tax strategy implementation, planning support and project management will be advantageous
