As an Interior Systems Engineer on Zoox’s Vehicle Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the design, release, and launch of the complete interior system for Zoox vehicles. You will be part of the team that creates and executes world-class interiors in terms of form, function, and durability.

In this dynamic role, you’ll work on essential components like hard trim, headliner systems, carpets, insulators, pillar trims, seats, and luggage compartment trim, ensuring seamless integration throughout the vehicle.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the design and release of interior components and subsystems using CATIA V6, translating system requirements into production-ready designs in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers
  • Partner closely with the design studio to balance aesthetics, functionality, and cost through iterative development
  • Work cross-functionally with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet high standards for durability, reliability, and fit & finish
  • Review and apply CAE simulation results to optimize product performance
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including DFMEAs and DVP&Rs, to support validation and quality processes
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 7 years of experience in automotive interior trim engineering
  • Proven experience in developing automotive interior trim components and subsystems at the OEM or Tier 1 level, from initial concept to launch
  • Proficient in 3D modeling using CATIA V5 or equivalent software, with a strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation processes, including DVP&Rs and DFMEAs, within at least one complete vehicle lifecycle program. 
  • Experience in managing technical suppliers and project timelines effectively, ensuring successful delivery under tight constraints. 
  • Compensation
    There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $123,000 to $200,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
