In this role, you will apply your craft and passion to turn ideas into reality, leading projects to design and build prototypes for our autonomous vehicle platform. Working closely with cross-functional teams of designers and engineers, you will develop innovative AV hardware solutions that meet high standards of performance, safety, and scalability.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and build complex mechanical prototypes and assemblies in CATIA, ensuring high performance and manufacturability.
  • Accurately model surfaces, geometries, and assemblies for rapid prototyping and evaluation.
  • Create detailed drawings, documentation, and BOMs to support fabrication, assembly, and testing.
  • Develop tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds to enable efficient prototyping of components and composites.
  • Collaborate across design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to drive innovative AV hardware solutions.
  • Research and apply emerging materials and manufacturing techniques to accelerate development and decision-making.

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or prototyping; automotive experience preferred.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD design for solids and surfaces; CATIA V5/V6 preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead complex prototyping projects across multiple functions.

    • Bonus Qualifications

  • Hands-on prototyping experience with machining, welding, composites, or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience managing suppliers to support prototyping efforts.
  • Familiarity with documentation and project management tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, or Confluence.
