As a Sr. Validation Technician on Zoox’s Base Operations Engineering team, you will be responsible for the validation activities and time studies guide development. This includes the development of processes needed to operate successfully in collaboration with engineering and the BaseOps fleet support team. 

You will support the Rework Review Board (RRB) and provide necessary input to help engineering succeed in the requested reworks. You will collaborate with the field technicians to evaluate the products and identify changes that will improve our product's overall serviceability and maintainability. 

As a Sr. Validation Technician, you will carry out validation activities and time studies, facilitating procedure development by the documentation team. You will keep the team deliverables aligned with milestones and provide support to ensure goals and objectives are met.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide guidance and training to new team members
  • Establish relationships with the hardware and software engineering teams, PMO, and Base Operations repair teams to drive validation activities
  • Collaborate with Base Operation technicians for validation activities and obtain feedback on the rework and repair procedures to make improvements
  • Develop and establish a process to create a time study guide for our fleet support repair team
  • Develop a process to create detailed instructions using the process provided by engineering and based on the learnings from the validation activities
  • Work closely with the documentation team to finalize the instructions and publish them in the form of service bulletins
  • Represent the Base Operations team in the RRB forum and provide updates for the ongoing rework validation activities
  • Identify rework process improvement opportunities. Collaborate with the PMO to implement process improvements
  • Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of automobiles
  • Extensive knowledge of CAN/LIN, wiring diagrams, wiring repair, and soldering is highly preferred
  • 10+ years of technician experience
  • Education - Certificate, Diploma, or Associate's degree. Degree in Automotive Technology or related field is a plus
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organizational, and operational skill sets
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technician experience validating repair procedures and conducting time studies
  • Proficiency in Jira/Confluence, SAP ERP, MS Office, Google Suites, Lucid Charts, and Slack
  • Possesses strong problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrates awareness of all environmental, health, and safety protocols
  • Detail-oriented, including proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player that collaborates well cross-functionally
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Able to remain calm and clear-headed in stressful situations
  • Compensation
    There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $46/hr to $67/hr. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
