As a homologation engineer, you will gain exposure to every part of the vehicle and how it works. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team that is homologating ground-up autonomous vehicles. Achieving this goal requires continuous problem-solving and creativity to navigate the regulations at both a federal and state level. This role will be on-site in Foster City, California and you will be joining a high-performing, lean team.
In this role, you will:
Lead the delivery of State vehicle code compliance and State autonomous vehicle permit requirementsCollaborate with the hardware, feature, policy, and legal teams to deliver solutions to support State AV permit requirementsIdentify State vehicle codes that may conflict with the robotaxi design and work with the Policy team to drive updates to the vehicle codeLead the assessment of homologation requirements for non-robotaxi Zoox-owned vehicles. Support the teams with developing solutions, as needed.Support the other homologation team members on FMVSS, EPA, CARB, and FCC delivery. Track homologation testing and progress toward milestonesAnalyze homologation documentation for sufficiency, accuracy, and completenessReview and identify engineering changes with potential homologation impact. Approve change requests for HW and SW on behalf of homologationSupport issue resolution during vehicle launchReview Quality Audits for FMVSS compliance concernsQualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or a related field of studyAt minimum 10 years of experience in vehicle homologation, testing or design and releaseUnderstanding of automotive regulations, especially State Vehicle Code, FMVSS and EPA/CARBDemonstrated knowledge of vehicle system components and functionsStrong analytical skills with the ability to develop effective solutions efficientlyExcellent communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work independently
