Position Summary:

FL85 is seeking a visionary VP/SVP, Head of Platform to join the leadership team of a world-class, dynamic, and highly collaborative team that is driving a novel platform for delivery of information molecule therapeutics. They will oversee and manage multiple research programs where they will identify, prioritize, and provide innovative solutions to challenges posed by the delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics. They will work cross-functionally to direct and oversee discovery research efforts and our Platform build to enable next generation genomic medicines. The successful candidate will implement strategies to overcome limitations of current non-viral delivery approaches and will have a strong understanding of targeted drug delivery. The successful candidate will have a track record of accomplishments in drug discovery. They must exhibit excellent leadership, project management, and strong collaboration and communication skills. They should be ready to champion new ideas in a very dynamic and innovative environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop the Platform by directing the execution of multiple drug discovery programs, including setting scientific direction, development of program timelines, monitoring of key milestones and decision points, and managing the scientific team.
• Maintain close collaboration with Machine Learning, Technical Operations, and Business Development teams.
• Recruit, retain and develop a world-class team of technical leaders and scientists.
• Play a crucial part in FL85’s strategic, cultural, and operational direction as part of the R&D Leadership Team.
• Initiate and manage collaborations with leading industry partners.
• Represent the platform discovery function to various stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, discussions with external investors, discussion with current or potential partners, as well as other stakeholders.
• Work as part of the FL85 leadership team, and with the Board of Directors and Senior Management to formulate and communicate a compelling vision and strategic direction, including developing a roadmap for creating the most valuable version of the platform within the company.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical or Biological Engineering, or related field with15+ years of relevant post-PhD experience with an excellent track record in drug delivery in a biopharmaceutical setting.
• Track record of nucleic acid delivery in multiple preclinical models, including rodents and nonhuman primates, as well as in human cells.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and communicate complex data sets in a clear and concise manner to key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
• Prior experience working with or leading collaborations with external academic, biotechnology, and contract research organizations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask and perform under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
