🌟 Your Impact at Lila

We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to design, build, and test prototypes of next-generation scientific instruments to enable high throughput experimentation in AI enabled science factory. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of field leading scientists and engineers to translate novel research concepts into functional prototypes.

🛠️ What You'll Be Building

  • Design, build, and test mechatronic systems for scientific instruments In fast paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Develop and test actuators, sensors, control systems, and precision mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with scientists, mechanical engineers, and process engineers to develop prototype instruments that produce quality scientific data
  • Document designs, test results, and lessons learned to support future development and manufacturability.
  • Troubleshoot prototypes, diagnose failures, and design improvements

🧰 What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or related field
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience designing, wiring, and programming prototype equipment
  • Experience working in fast paced, iterative design and test environment
  • Experience designing electrical safety systems such as e-stops
  • Familiarity with signal processing and data acquisition
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python
  • Strong experience with git and modern version control practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and adaptability
  • Comfort with interdisciplinary collaboration in a research-driven environment

✨ Bonus Points For

  • Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Experience designing custom PCBs
  • Familiarity working with electrochemistry instruments such as potentiostats
  • Knowledge of microfluidics
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and transition from prototype to product
