Lila Sciences is seeking a dedicated Robotics Engineer I-II, Driver Development to join our team.
Technologies Used:
- Programming languages like Python, C#, C++
- Robotics control systems like ROS2
- API development and support across several standards (OPC-UA, SiLA 2, REST API, etc)
- A number of off-the-shelf vendor instruments and software suites (Hamilton Venus, Dynamic Devices Lynx Method Manager, etc), including related, possibly antiquated, software frameworks or components like ActiveX.
- Ubuntu and Windows operating systems
- Version control systems (Git) as well as CI/CD pipelines
- Robotics frameworks and simulation environments
🛠️ What You'll Be Building
- Working alongside scientists, software engineers, and process engineers to determine scientific, operational, and safety requirements for remotely driven laboratory devices
- Developing, testing, and maintaining software drivers for automated equipment, both custom-built and off-the-shelf
- Collaborating on hardware-software integration and system testing
- Supporting system deployments, troubleshooting issues, and triaging new feature requests from users
- API design and development for each device to enable remote operation
- Documenting processes, technical specifications, and safety requirements
🧰 What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in programming and basic device driver development
- Specialization in robotic sample handling, object manipulation, pick and place operations, and fixtures/grippers
- Proficiency in basic systems networking and communication protocols to ensure secure communications between edge devices and cloud systems
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, particularly with regard to working with Scientists as customers.
- A willingness to continuously learn and stay ahead of emerging technologies
✨ Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with lab automation or life science instrumentation is a strong plus
- Familiarity with ROS2 and simulation tools like Gazebo a plus
