Ampersand Biomedicines‘ Pilsen Team, formerly Abcheck and now a Flagship Pioneering Company, discovers and optimizes human therapeutic antibodies with one of the industry’s most versatile technology platforms. Tailored to specific needs and desired Target Product Profiles, the experienced team leverages both cutting-edge (e.g., microfluidics, rabbit mass humanization) and state-of-the-art (e.g., phage display libraries) technologies to provide high quality leads against a range of diverse targets.

Position Overview:

As Scientific Project Manager you will be responsible for managing therapeutic antibody discovery projects (target to lead identification) for Ampersand Biomedicines and external customers. Antibody discovery campaigns will include both AbChecks’s proprietary microfluidics pipeline as well as classical phage display approaches.  You will have a strong cross-functional focus working on joint project teams, including project strategy design and execution on time and within budget. The role reports into the VP Project Management AbCheck. The successful candidate will have relevant industrial experience, ideally gained at a CRO or another service organisation, and experience in communicating and working in international teams.

This role will be based in Plzen, Czech Republic, but could be partially remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the project plan for given antibody discovery campaigns based on input from both AbCheck and customer’s scientific team
  • Present project plans for approval by AbCheck and customer’s senior management
  • Calculate and monitor costs and timelines, execute project plans within time and budget
  • Review and communicate the strategy with the scientific (joint) team, review data, drive and track the project to successful completion
  • Facilitate communication and integration across relevant functional areas
  • Manage communication between AbCheck’s and customer’s scientific and operational teams
  • Generate presentations and reports to drive internal and external decision making
  • Maintain revenue records and timely project invoicing
  • Contribute to financial planning and revenue forecasting strategies

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Scientist in relevant field with 3+ years in drug discovery/development
  • Solid understanding of antibody discovery
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to target different levels
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload
  • Experienced in collaborating with international teams, proficient in English

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent work experience in a life science discipline relevant for drug development
  • Experience of project management in the pharmaceutical industry, and/or qualification in project management such as PMP
  • Track record of managing projects in the context of corporate partnerships
  • Experience with Phage Display, Yeast Display and/or microfluidics
