As a Quality Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of Quality Engineers who support product engineering teams at Lyft. Your responsibility will be to deliver on our quality standards and testing best practices, and to partner across engineering to adopt a healthy strategy towards quality. This includes building a culture of test ownership, resource allocation for quality engineers, tooling strategy, and end-to-end quality of the releases we ship to drivers and passengers.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the advocate for our users, champion quality, and lead overall team execution towards quality goals
  • Own resource allocation, load balancing, prioritization of Quality Engineering resources
  • Work closely with product, design and engineering teams to define quality criteria and quality metrics for all deployments
  • Standardize quality processes including test plan development, test documentation, test metrics, best practices, and reporting and visibility for overall quality of our apps
  • Conduct root cause analysis on production issues with other engineers, and determine how we can prevent them in the future
  • Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other
  • Provide career guidance, continuous feedback, and recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members
  • Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges in your organization
  • Work closely with the Lyft recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to identify needs across the organization and build and execute the roadmap for quality at Lyft
  • Manage cross-functional relationships and communicate with leadership across multiple organizations and regionally-based teams
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment where decisions you make will have a large impact

Experience:

  • 6 or more years as an engineering leader in quality and test automation
  • Solid track record of building high performing teams, and growing technical teams
  • Extensive mobile development experience and knowledge of the idiosyncrasies associated with various mobile platforms, screen resolutions, mobile OS versions, and hardware form factors
  • Experience with API testing and debugging tools
  • Extensive experience building test coverage with comprehensive test plans and execution strategies (manual: exploratory/ad-hoc/requirements-based, automation: unit/integration/smoke/functional/regression) across mobile, web, and api platforms
  • Experience with open source test automation tools
  • Experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks and CI
  • Able to influence, negotiate and inspire others in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent organization, planning skills, and attention to detail
