The Scene Platform team at Level 5 builds tools for extracting insight from our rapidly growing dataset of driving scenarios -- a centerpiece of Level 5’s autonomy strategy. We ingest data from AV missions, human-driven vehicles, and simulations, and produce curated datasets for AV model training and software validation. We tackle this unique challenge using a combination of deep learning methods and conventional query tools (SQL, Spark). Scene Platform operates at a nexus of the autonomy data ecosystem where our upstream and downstream customers, as well as our own systems, all involve state-of-the-art machine learning; an ideal position in which to gain exposure to a wide cross-section of the AV technology stack.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and operate large-scale data pipelines for complex driving-scenario data
  • Design APIs and UX for use cases such as ingestion, exploration, dataset generation, etc.
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as Autonomy, Validation, Simulation, and Mapping, to create novel data products that advance our self-driving program
  • Develop platform-oriented systems that facilitate contributions from other teams and sharing of solutions between customer teams
  • Work effectively in a diverse team of talented SW & ML engineers

Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years hands-on coding experience 
  • 3+ years working on production software infrastructure, ideally data systems or API-based platforms
  • Experience with both statically and dynamically typed languages
  • Strong background in object oriented design, testability, and code reusability
  • Excellent SQL skills and exposure to large-scale ETL systems & data warehouses
  • Knowledge of one or more cloud platforms, such as AWS or GCP
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead substantial technical projects, including synthesis of requirements, technical design, and execution
