In their work at Lyft, Teaching Engineers guide the entire knowledge-sharing process, from docs to workshops to online content. Teaching Engineers work with Lyft engineers to build expertise on impactful topics, including engineering best practices, incident response, and our data platform. The medium of delivery depends on the topic, but we take an interactive, project-based approach to learning whenever possible. Meanwhile, we’ll offer opportunities to code, so you can keep your development skills sharp too. Between that and our ever-changing technical landscape, this role offers a rare balance between familiar content and fresh challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Work with engineers to derive key information about how we write, test, ship, monitor, and maintain software at Lyft
- Package information into documents, videos, interactive workshops, code-along projects, and any other format that might suit the material
- Measure effectiveness of curriculum
- Empower engineers to share their expertise by helping to shape their presentations and providing feedback on existing offerings
Experience:
- At least 1 year of software development experience
- A demonstrated passion for teaching (paid or volunteer)
- Pristine written and verbal communication skills
- A degree in engineering, education, or communication is a plus
- Curriculum-building experience is a plus
