We’re looking for a UX writing intern to join our growing UX Writing team! You’ll be embedded in one of our design teams, and a partner in influencing product decisions. You'll work alongside designers, researchers, marketers, and product managers to create a top-notch experience for our riders, drivers, and community. 

As our very first UX writing intern, you’ll be part of a growing and innovative UX writing culture at Lyft. Along with our UX Writing team, you will help to define best practices, create systems to scale our small-but-mighty team, and generally elevate the Lyft user experience with your wording superpower.

This internship will be during Summer 2020 and will be based in San Francisco.  

Responsibilities:

  • Translate complicated concepts into clear in-product copy (UI, notifications, errors, and more)
  • Champion the Lyft brand voice and style
  • Help establish product strategy and vision
  • Regularly collaborate with designers, researchers, engineers, marketers, data science, product managers, and other stakeholders across tech and ops
  • Manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Create, maintain, and evolve content guidelines

Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a degree (undergraduate, master’s, or boot camp) in a relevant writing field, including but not limited to Creative Writing, English, UX Writing; OR a career changer with a demonstrated interest and experience in the UX Writing or Content Strategy field 
  • Excellent writing skills, ideally in the UX writing or content strategy space
  • A systems mind that considers not just copy, but the end-to-end user experience
  • Ability to understand and discuss strategy, metrics, and results
  • A collaborative, proactive mindset
  • Required: Writing portfolio with at least 3 examples of past writing samples, preferably UX writing samples 
  • Bonus Points:
    • Experience with design tools (Sketch, Figma)
    • Experience writing for an ESL audience
    • Knowledge of accessibility best practices
